Smaller models have a different deployment profile

Large frontier models remain valuable, but many enterprise workflows do not require the largest available model. Small language models can reduce cost, latency and infrastructure requirements while making private deployment easier.

Reliability matters more than model size

For constrained enterprise workflows, a smaller model combined with domain data, validation and policy controls can be more useful than an unconstrained general-purpose model.

Local models as part of a routed architecture

The strongest enterprise architecture can combine local models with approved external models and route between them according to policy, sensitivity and workload requirements.
